Hosta 'Patent Leather'
 

Originated by Van Wade of Wade and Gatton Nursery (Closed 2019) of Ohio but registered in 2001 by Dr. Ed Elslager of Michigan on his behalf, this medium size (14 inches high by 29 inches wide) cultivar is of unidentified parentage. It has medium green foliage that is moderately corrugated, broadly ovate and very shiny on top. Medium lavender flowers with deep purple stripes bloom from mid-July into August on scapes 18 to 21 inches tall.

According to the registration materials: "...very shiny bright green leaves of good substance..."
