Hosta 'Phyllis Campbell'

This H. 'Fortunei Albopicta'-type cultivar was registered by the British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society in 1988. This giant size hosta grows into a 30 inch high mound which spreads to a width of 54 inches. The ovate, slightly wavy leaves start the season blue-green with a very wide medial (center) variegation of a misted creamy white color which turns more greenish as the season progresses.. It bears very pale lavender flowers from mid-July into August.

"Plant is yellow, mediovariegated, viridescent mutant that is reported to be the same as H. 'Sharmon'." Schmid lists the originator as Maxted. Since BHHS registered this plant, we assume that he or she was from England.

Obviously the picture above does not fit the description of the plant. It was either mislabeled or has reverted to a solid color form.
