Originated by Jim Schwarz of Jim's Hostas of Iowa (now owned by Uniquely Hostas of Wisconsin) and Madelon Gilligan of New Zealand, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Lakeside Black Mama'. It was registered by Gilligan in 2015. The medium size (15 inches high by 17 inches wide) hosta has dark green to "black" foliage with some white streaked variegation. Its leaves are broadly ovate, slightly flat and dull on top. It does not set seed.
