Hosta 'Rosedale Barnie'

The result of a cross between H. ventricosa x H. 'Invincible', this cultivar which is part of the Rosedale Series was registered by Jerry Hadrava of Iowa in 1999. The medium size mound is 13 inches high and 40 inches wide. Its leaves are broadly ovate, somewhat unruly and very shiny on the underside. The medium purple flowers on dense clusters bloom in July.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "The excellent display of flowers shows the H. ventricosa ancestry."
