Hosta 'Salem'

This is a hybrid of H. 'Lucy's Breeder 36-69' × H. montana which was originated by Lucille Simpers of Indiana and registered on her behalf by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 2000 and modified in 2009. It is an upright, large size plant (22 inches high by 38 inches wide) with foliage that is bright gold in the spring but changes to green as the season progresses. The leaves are ovate in shape, moderately rippled and have a distinct tip. Lavender flowers bloom in July on scapes 20 to 24 inches tall followed by seeds in green pods.
