Hosta 'Second Wind'

John Kulpa registered this sport of H. 'Whirlwind' in 1991. It forms a medium size (18 inches high) mound that has shiny dark green leaves and lavender flowers from late July into August.

According to The Hosta Handbook by Mark Zilis (2000), it is " of the best dk green hostas; greatly underrated."

The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009) says, "Consider using it as a foil to 'Whirlwind' and its many variegated sports."

Similar cultivars include H. 'Joseph', H. 'Invincible', H. 'Lakeside Black Satin' and H. 'Rosedale Spoons'.

Sports include H. 'Trade Wind'.
