Hosta 'Second Wind'

John Kulpa registered this sport of H. 'Whirlwind' in 1991. It forms a medium sized (18 inches high) mound that has shiny dark green leaves and lavender flowers in late July to August.

According to The Hosta Handbook by Mark Zilis (2000), it is "...one of the best dk green hostas; greatly underrated."

The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009) says, "Consider using it as a foil to 'Whirlwind' and its many variegated sports."

Similar cultivars include H. 'Joseph', H. 'Invincible', H. 'Lakeside Black Satin' and H. 'Rosedale Spoons'.

Sports include H. 'Trade Wind'.
