Hosta 'Seto-Gekko'

This small sized, non-registered cultivar with red petioles is a seedling of H. kikutii caput-avis x H. 'Moroyama Nishiki' from Japan. The foliage is dark green with cream colored streaked variegation. Its leaves are slightly wavy. Its flower scapes which appear in September are red and nodding.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e. something colorful and beautiful.
