Hosta 'Sitting Pretty'

A cross of H. 'Reiko' × H. 'Amy Aden', this small size cultivar was registered by Paul Aden of New York in 1987. It grows into a small size hosta about 8 inches high and 18 inches wide. The leaves are slightly rippled and mildly corrugated. Its medium purple flowers bloom in July on 12 inch tall scapes followed by viable seeds.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...ranks as one of the best small-size, white-centered cultivars ever introduced...has a good growth rate, and produces flowers in neat proportion to the mound...a plant reputed to be a larger version of 'Sitting Pretty' has been dubbed 'Standing Pretty'..."

The Book of Little Hostas by Kathy and Michael Shadrack (2010) says: "Demands morning sun and good drainage. Ideal for the larger trough and raised bed."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Site in some morning sun in cooler climates to intensify the leaf color."
