Hosta 'Strike Up the Band'

Originated by Don Dean of Minnesota but registered by Barry Ankney of White Oak Nursery in Illinois in 2022, this cultivar is a seedling of {[(H. 'Liberty Bell' × (H. 'Urajiro Hachijo' × H. pycnophylla)] × H. 'Ebony Spires'}  × H. 'Purple Verticulated Elf'. (**For clarity sake, the hostas in Red are the background of the unnamed pod parent and the one in Green is the pollen parent of this cultivar.)

This is a small to medium size hosta about 11 inches high by 33 inches wide with intensely blue-green foliage that has a yellow marginal variegation. The ovate shaped leaves are moderately twisted, slightly rippled and moderately folded. Pale lavender flowers with white stripes bloom from mid-August thru September.

The registration materials state: "Random gray and green streaks are found between the leaf center and margins...yellow margins turn white by mid-season...yellow margins turn white by mid-season."
