Hosta 'War Eagle'

Originated by Van Wade of Wade and Gatton Nursery (Closed 2019) of Ohio, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage. It is a large size hosta about 20 inches high by 40 inches wide with shiny, medium green foliage. The leaves are very shiny on the bottom too.

War Eagle was born in Minnesota or Wisconsin around 1785. He had left his own tribe, the Santee, to avoid bloodshed in a fight as to who would be chief. As a young man, War Eagle spent considerable time working among the white Americans.

War Eagle is also a battle cry, yell, or motto of Auburn University in Alabama.
