Hosta 'Whirlaway'
 

Registered by Jerry Murray of New York in 2004, this small size (9 inches high by 11 inches wide) cultivar is a sport of H. 'Whirlwind'. It is a dark green hosta with a pure white medial variegation. The leaves are ovate, twisted and heavily rippled. Tubular flowers bloom from mid-July into August on scapes 11 to 13 inches tall.

According to the registration materials: "...very twisted with wide dark green margin and narrow white center..."

Whirlaway was an American champion thoroughbred racehorse (1938-1953).
