We have information on over 12,000 hosta names in our database. Some of these are duplicate names and for others, we have only the name and no other information. Data on size, bloom time, origins, leaf color, etc. are included for over 8,600 unique cultivars and species.

The following are percentages for several categories and data numbers for others in our hosta database: (Note that these statistics may or may not be representative of all hostas.)

* The percentage of hosta cultivars that originated in tissue culture (TC) is probably much, much higher. Currently, the registration process does not require that TC sports be differentiated from garden sports so they are usually just noted as a "sport". Unless we know it is a TC sport from some other source, we list it as a "Garden Sport".
