The Victorian gothic house on this site was one of the first on the University of Wisconsin, Madison campus. It now houses the staff of the Agricultural Research Stations.

In the early 1980's, the 2.5 acres around the house was developed into the Allen Centennial Gardens. It is used as an outdoor classroom for horticulture classes. The site features a wide array of herbaceous perennials as well as trees and shrubs.

This garden, on the campus is a wonderful little retreat from the surrounding buildings and hubbub. This is one of those "Should See" gardens if you find yourself anywhere in the vicinity. The garden seems a lot older and more established than its relatively short life would indicate. Enjoy!

Other gardens in the area include the U of Wisconsin Arboretum and the Rotary Botanical Garden in Janesville, WI.
