Hosta 'Blast Off'

Dr. Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict registered this cross of H. 'Mikado' x H. 'Dorothy Benedict' in 1995. The mound reaches 19 inches in height with a width of about 46 inches. Pale lavender flowers bloom in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "By summer's end, the foliage of 'Blast Off' develops an unusual, multicolored effect rarely seen in hostas."

These 2010 photos come from the Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict Hosta Hillside, tours and vendors at the 2010 American Hosta Society National Convention in Minnesota, Wade and Gatton Nursery and Wade Botanical Gardens, Toledo Botanical Garden and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
