Hosta 'Gaijin'

Jointly registered in 1995 by Mark Zilis and Bill Zumbar, this Hosta pulchella type cultivar grows to 6 inches in height and 15 inches in width. The leaves are ovate shaped, wavy and shiny with smooth texture. Reddish purple flowers bloom in August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "I received this Japanese plant as 'Hogon Hime'. That name was incorrect since its translation, "gold dwarf", is not at all descriptive of the plant. With my approval, Bill Zumbar named it 'Gaijin'."

Similar cultivars include Hosta pulchella 'Kifukurin Ubatake'.

Seedlings include H. 'Lost World' and H. 'Worldly Treasure'.
