Hosta 'Kingwood Center'

This is a sport of an unnamed seedling of H. 'Frances Williams' that was registered in 1993 and re-registered with new data in 2018 by Charles Applegate of Ohio.  The medium size mound is about 12 inches high and 33 inches wide. Its leaves are dark green with a golden-yellow medial (center) variegation. The foliage is broadly ovate, slightly rippled and dull on top. Pure white flowers bloom in July. Like its famous ancestor, it also suffers some spring desiccation burn.

Kingwood Center is a horticultural garden in Mansfield, Ohio, which is located a short distance from Wade and Gatton Nursery (Closed 2019) of Ohio .

Originally, in 1993, this cultivar was listed as registered and originated by Kingwood Center. Dr. Doug Beilstein provided corrected information on the originator which was included in the 2018 re-registration.
