This cultivar forms a medium size mound about 17 inches high and 30 inches wide with leaves that have a rounded base, are somewhat wavy with thick substance. It bears pale purple flowers in August. Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery in North Carolina registered this sport of H. 'Sparkling Burgundy' in 1998.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...the variegation is hard to see from distances beyond five feet."
