This large sized (25 inches high) cultivar of unknown
parentage was registered in 1999 by
Mark Zilis.
It has slightly wavy, ovate shaped foliage that is
moderately shiny underneath. The fragrant, lavender flowers open
in August.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis
(2009), "Sometime during the mid-1980s,
Natalee Suggs
of Alabama sent me a plant that she had received many years
before from Paul Aden. The plant had a few streaks in the leaves
and produced fragrant flowers. After propagating it for a number
of years, we were able to introduce three forms from the
original plant, 'Savannah' (leaves white-margined,
green-centered), 'Savannah Emerald' (green), and 'Savannah
Supreme' (heavily streaked)."
Similar cultivars include H. 'So
Sweet', H. 'Sugar and
Cream' and H. 'Summer
Fragrance'.
Sports include H. 'Savannah Emerald' and H. 'Savannah Supreme'.
