Larch

Depending on the reference, there are between 10 and 15 species of larch trees. They are native to the cooler temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere especially in mountainous regions.

This genus is one that bears needles but, unlike pines or spruce, they are deciduous and drop off each fall. Other similar plants include dawn redwood and bald cypress.
