This is a genus of mistletoes consisting of around 240 species. They are native to the warm temperate and tropical regions of North America and South America.

The plans are considered "hemi-parasitic" which means that they obtain their water and mineral nutrients from the host plant but are capable of photosynthesis to create their own food also.
