Campion or Catchfly

This is a very large genus with over 700 species represented. Although they come from many parts of the world, most originate in the Northern Hemisphere. The common name "campion" aka champion, comes from the fact that flowers from a species of this genus were used in the wreaths placed on the heads of champions at public games.
