Tall erect flower stems carry the purple flowers which
seem to float in the air.
2-3 feet tall
Two inch diameter flowers are carried at the top
of a long, thin flower scape. The flower buds are green turning
to purple. During this change, the flower head has a
two-tone effect with a purple top. The flower head is
very dense with up to 100 flowers.
Summer
Upright leaves are semicylindrical, hollow, 1 inch
wide and 18 inches long. There are usually 3-5 leaves per
plant.
Plant bulbs in a well-drained soil in a full
sun location.
