The bright yellow flowers are in heads that are
3-4 inches wide. The involucre is composed of 6-8 rows of
rusty colored bracts which are fringed.
Midsummer for 2-3 weeks.
Alternate leaves, ovate lanceolate to elliptic,
scabrous, with an undulating leaf margin. The basal
leaves are petioled stem leaves are slightly decurrent.
The stems are pubescent.
