Pure white with a green crescent on all 6 segments of the perianth where the external segments are longer than the internal segments.   This differs from Snowflakes (Leucojum vernum), which are nearly of equal length.

The 1 inch wide, single, drooping flowers of Snowdrops are borne 1 to a pedicel while those of Snowflakes are borne in clusters on the pedicel.

Early spring - Among the first to flower after the snow melts off.
There are generally only 2 or 3 leaves, which are linear and glaucous, ¼ inches wide and 6 inches long.
