Narrow, upright plant
6-8 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
The deep red funnel-shaped flowers are 5-6 inches wide. The flowers are borne on long peduncles that arise out of the leaf axils. There are 10 or more involucral bracts which are very narrow, 1¾ inch long and curved upward. The bracts are much shorter than the calyx lobes.
Mid to late summer.
This rose mallow has 5-6 inches wide leaves which are palmately lobed into 3, 5, or 7 jagged finger-like lobes. The lobes are very slender, almost skeleton-like and are remotely toothed.
