Humulus lupulus Common Hop North America and Eurasia Twining dioecious perennial vine of moist, alluvial thickets and fence rows. Up to 30 feet or more in length in a single season           Yield a strong, hemp-like fiber used in making ropes and burlap sacks.         The specific epithet, lupulus, is the diminutive of lupus meaning wolf. This alludes to the tenacity with which the plant clings to its support.
