A plant found in moist woodlots, stream banks and floodplains.
3 feet
Orange flowers with 3 sepals (one forming a spur) and 5 petals. A related species, I. pallida has yellow flowers.
 
 
 

 
Many species of impatiens are called "touch me not" because they have pressure sensitive, exploding (dehiscent) capsules that scatter the seed away from the plant when ripe.
