  • var. rosea - Pink Star Magnolia has pink flower buds, flowers usually white.
  • var. rubra - Red Star Magnolia - flowers purplish rose
  • 'Waterlily' - more upright, bushy and twiggy than the species. Flower buds are pink to white and slightly larger, with more narrow petals.
