Dwarf, shrubby, very irregular and picturesque in habit.
8-12 feet tall with a spread of 5-7 feet Capable of growing 20-40 feet in height, but this is rare under landscape conditions.
Plants are monoecious. Cones are not showy.
 
Needles are borne in fascicles of 5 and ¾-1½ inches long, bluish-green in color, with very prominent resin dots throughout.
 
 
 
Cones are 2-4 inches long with a blunt apex and a bristle-like prickle at the end of each cone scale.
