Flowers are available in a wide range of colors flowers may be solitary or in many flowered umbels on flower scapes longer than the leaves.

Basal leaves, obovate, tapering to a winged petiole. Wrinkled leaves.
 
 
  • 'Barnhaven Hybrids' - Bright-colored flowers on compact plants, heat tolerant and free flowering.
  • 'Crescent' - large flowers, 12 inches tall.
  • 'Pacific Giants' - Free-flowering cultivar with large flowers, over 2 inches wide and an extensive range of colors.
 
Primula is derived from the Latin primus, meaning first and is apparently so named because of the early flowering.
