Pseudolarix amabilis (P. kaempferi)
Golden Larch
5
Eastern China

Broadly pyramidal with wide spreading branches
120 feet (45 feet in 70 years)

Needlelike leaves (it is a deciduous conifer that drops all its leaves in the fall like the larches) are 1-2 inches long, making them the longest of any of the larch group.
Foliage turns a bright yellow color

A “false larch” because of the peculiar cones it bears. Cones are borne erect on the upper side of the branches and shatter out completely in late October
