Rounded plant with long flowering stems.
18-24 inches tall by 18 inches wide.
Light blue flowers are borne in flattened 3 inches diameter involucrate heads, which are borne on long stems. The calyx is cup-shaped and has an involucre that is covered with dense matted gray hairs. An outer ring of flat petals surrounds a tufted central cushion from which dark gray stamens protrude.
Summer
Opposite, basal leaves lanceolate-linear and glaucous stem leaves are divided into
linear segments.

  • 'Blue Perfection' - Lavender-blue flowers, 24 inches.
  • 'Bressingham White' - This 3 feet tall white cultivar was introduced by Alan Bloom and is very similar to 'Miss Willmott'.
  • 'Butterfly Blue' - Lavender-blue flowers on stems 20-24 inches tall. It flowers continuously from early summer to frost.
  • 'Clive Greaves' - Lavender-blue flowers.
  • 'Fama' - Deep blue flowers on 18 inches stems. It is an excellent long-lasting cut flower.
  • 'Great Guy' - Bright blue flowers.
  • 'Isaac House Hybrids' - The mixture is basically shades of lavender-blue.
  • 'Kompliment' - Dark lavender flowers, 24 inches.
  • 'Miss Willmott' - Creamy-white flowers.
  • 'Moerheim Blue' - Lavender-blue flowers.
  • 'Perfecta' - Large pale lilac flowers.
