Very small flowers are pale lilac with rosy stamens.
 
Tiny foliage, which becomes a coppery color in late summer

The compact asters were developed from a crossing of Aster novi-belgii x A. dumosus. Aster is derived from Greek and refers to the star-like shape of the flower.
