Perhaps the key problem of members of the genus, Taxus is that they do not tolerate wet, poorly drained soils.
Not as hardy as the Canada Yew but hardier than the English Yew
  • 'Aurescens' - dwarf variety with shoots tinged yellow
  • 'Densa' - 4 feet tall by 20 feet across - usually a pistillate plant, with short side branchlets, very dense and widespreading branches
  • 'Jeffrey's Pyramidal' - dark green-leaved, one of the heaviest-fruiting forms. pyramidal in habit:
  • 'Nana' - mostly female, the shoots are dense and compact
