Many plant species were "discovered" by European plant explorers in this region and were then introduced to the rest of the world. Asia in general and Korea in particular were fertile grounds as a source of new and unique plants for the nursery trade in Europe. As can be seen by the latitude similarities, many of the plants from this region were well adapted to conditions in Europe and much of the United States.
