This area of the world is know for a very wide range of different plant life. It includes arctic, temperate, subtropical and tropical climate zones. Although the amount of land area is not as great as in the Northern Hemisphere, many plant species were "discovered" by European plant explorers in parts of this region and were then introduced to the rest of the world.
