Compact plant, suitable as a groundcover
6-12 inches tall with a spread of 12-24 inches.
white flowers, about ¾ inch across, are borne on 6-9 inches long racemes. Individual flowers have 5 petals and 10 stamens. The inflorescence is similar to that of Astilbe.
Midspring
Leaves basal, broadly ovate cordate to 4 inches long leaves are dentately toothed, 3-7 lobed, with a scattered pubescence on both surfaces. Leaves are borne on hirsute petioles.
 
 
  • 'Moorgrun' - White flowers, smaller leaves than the species.
  • 'Purpurea' - The foliage of this cultivar is purple-tinged with maroon petioles and the flowers are pale pink to rose.

 
Tiarella is derived from the Greek word tiara, a small crown and refers to the shape of the fruit.

The leaves of Tiarella are similar to those of Heuchera sanguinea except they are more sharply toothed than those of Heuchera.
