Hosta 'Ocean Isle Tie Dye'

This non-registered cultivar is a sport of H. 'Hawkeye' from Dave Chopko of New Jersey. It has yellow colored foliage with a light green medial (center) variegation. This medium size plant has leaves that have very thick substance. It bears pale lavender flowers in late June.

This cultivar won the 2010 Kevin Vaughn Award at the First Look hosta competition as the best sport as chosen by the AHS Judges and the Frances Williams Award as the best sport as chosen by the Attendees..

An article by Warren I. Pollock in The Hosta Journal  (2014 Vol. 45 No. 1) states that, “Roberta and Dave Chopko have a residence in Ocean Isle, North Carolina…"Ocean Isle” is Dave’s identifying prefix…His popular H. ‘Ocean Isle’ was registered in 2006…Other Chopko introductions are ‘Ocean Isle Gold Dust’ (NR) and ‘Ocean Isle Twist’…"
