Hosta 'Orion's Belt'

Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio registered this hybrid of H. 'Pin Stripe' × H. montana macrophylla in 2003. The hosta grows into a large size about 18 inches high with a spread of around 42 inches wide and has wavy, moderately corrugated foliage. It bears very pale lavender flowers in July.

In Greek mythology, this was considered to be a giant hunter who was among the stars in the Orion constellation.

If the hosta shown immediately above is correctly labeled, the plant has reverted from a marginally variegated hosta into an all blue-green base colored plant.
