Hosta 'Prairie Fire'

The result of a cross between H. 'Gold Regal' × a gold colored seedling of H. 'Tokudama', this cultivar was registered by Bob Kuk of Kuk's Forest in Ohio in 1994. It forms a medium size (12 inches high by 18 inches wide) mound of corrugated, somewhat wavy foliage. Near white flowers open in mid to late July followed by viable seeds.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Site in the morning sun, except in the hottest climates, to enhance the fiery, deep golden color of the leaves, which intensifies as the season progresses."
