Hosta 'Summer Olympics'

A tissue culture sport of H. 'Alex Summers', this plant was registered by Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2004. It forms a semi-upright mound about 19 inches high with a spread of 39 inches. The foliage has deep veins and thick substance. Pale lavender flowers bloom in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Since 'Alex Summers' is a sport of the gold-leaved 'Gold Regal', and 'Summer Olympics' is a gold-leaved sport of 'Alex Summers', one might expect 'Summer Olympics' to be the same as 'Gold Regal'- not so. The foliage of 'Summer Olympics' has much better substance and is a brighter gold than 'Gold Regal'."
