Hosta 'Coal Miner'

Registered by Olga Petryszyn of Indiana in 2010, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Golden Gate' × ((H. 'Bengee' × H. montana macrophylla) x (H. 'Zounds' × (H. 'Niagara Falls' × H. 'Jean Harlow'))). The "black"-blue foliage is slightly rippled, ovate, wavy and has a glaucous bloom on top. Tubular flowers bloom from June into July on scapes up to 36 inches tall followed by blue-green seed pods.

According to the registration materials: "...blackish blue color, tall, long upright growth, intensely glaucous top and bottom, deep veining, blossoms that practically glow. Fast growing and slug resistant...blue earlier turning darker later..."
