Hosta 'Blue Plisse'

A cross of H. 'Sieboldiana' x H. 'Tokudama', this cultivar was registered in 1990 by Clarence Soules. It forms a large size mound about 2 feet tall by 5 feet wide. The very pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...shows many similarities to H. 'Elegans' but the foliage tends to be smaller, the flowers are more lavender, and the flowering period is a few weeks later."

A catalog advertisement from Soules Garden in Indiana in The Hosta Journal (1991 Vol. 22 No. 2) offered the following Marge and Clarence Soules introductions:   'Blue Plisse' - $75.00, 'Crinolin Petticoats' - $75.00, 'Kong' - $75.00, 'Lime Krinkles' - $100.00, 'Placemat' - $100.00, 'Sunami' - $50 and "Special Price Fall 1991 -- Tissue culture release 'Fantastic'..." - $125.00.
