Hosta 'Waving Wuffles'

A Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery in North Carolina introduction, this hybrid of H. ventricosa was registered by Tony in 1995. It forms a large size mound about 20 inches high by 42 inches wide with wavy, unruly foliage that comes to a curved tip. The dark purple flowers begin to bloom in mid-July.

In an article about hybridizing by Tony Avent in The Hosta Journal (1996 Vol. 27 No. 1),  Tony gives the following comments on cultivars he has introduced: "H. 'Waving Wuffles' - seedling of H. ventricosa with much narrower leaves and incredible ruffling...the clump gets much better with age!"
