Pink flowers borne singly or in clusters in the leaf axils - The fruit resembles a wheel of cheese which breaks apart into pieces

According to the long-term seed trials by Dr. W.J. Beal at Michigan State University, seeds of this species lived in the soil for up to 20 years.
