Hosta 'Fused Veins'

Originally from Japan, this cultivar of unknown parentage was registered by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict in 1983. It forms a small, somewhat upright mound of twisted, wavy foliage that comes to a pointed tip. The medium lavender colored flowers bloom in very late August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...appears to be the same plant as 'Hamada Contorted' and both come close to 'Koryu'...impressed with its odd, twisted foliage and "green-on-green" variegation."

Similar cultivars include H. 'Hamada Controted', H. 'Koryu' and H. 'Tortifrons'.

These 2010 photos come from the Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict Hosta Hillside, tours and vendors at the 2010 American Hosta Society National Convention in Minnesota, Wade and Gatton Nursery and Arboretum, Toledo Botanical Garden and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
