Hosta 'Undulata Erromena'

A sport of H. 'Undulata' from Japan, this medium to large plant has lightly rippled, smooth textured foliage of average substance. The mound is 21 inches high and 47 inches wide with elliptic to broadly elliptic leaves. Pale lavender, funnel shaped flowers bloom in July.

According to The Hosta Handbook by Mark Zilis (2000), "...surprised at how much larger it becomes than all the other Undulatas...the most durable plant of this group..."

Similar cultivars include H. 'Nakaimo' and H. 'Unducosa'.

Sports include H. 'Brandi Nicole', H. 'Helena Sundberg', H. 'Journeyman', H. 'Kathy-O', H. 'Mary Scholl' and H. 'See Saw'.

These 2010 photos come from the Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict Hosta Hillside, tours and vendors at the 2010 American Hosta Society National Convention in Minnesota, Wade and Gatton Nursery and Arboretum, Toledo Botanical Garden and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

In Latin, the word "erromena" means vigorous growth.
