This is the time honored method of watering landscape plants...by hand. In the olden days, this meant hand carrying water from the well or nearby stream but today, of course, this refers to watering with a hose and spray attachment.

This is a time consuming way of watering but it does allow you to keep a closer eye on your plants and gets you out into the air. The key is to be patient enough to deliver enough water for the plant before moving on. It should be directed toward the base of the main stem and should be enough to soak into the root zone of the plant.

Before you take any serious action in your landscape, check with your state's land grant university's Cooperative Extension Service for the most current, appropriate, localized recommendations.
