Although called Siberian Iris or Siberian Flag, this species, Iris sibirica, is native to northeast Turkey, Russia and Eastcentral Europe. They spread by rhizome and are good flowers for in or near the water. Siberian iris have smaller flowers than their bearded cousins which bloom in later spring into early summer. Most flowers are purplish and some have a pale white to yellow center.
