Hosta Journal (1996 Vol. 27 No. 2) states that This is a duplicate, incorrect or outdated name for Hosta 'Ogon
Koba'.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term koba as small leaf,
'Koba Gibōshi' or
H. sieboldii and the term ogon or oogon as gold or yellow.
Many hostas in Japan have been given the
simple name 'Ogon' which would indicate that
the plant has yellow or gold colored
